After an accident, your vocabulary gets a brand new playlist. Here are seven phrases you’ll catch yourself saying on repeat, whether you like it or not.
1- “I’m still in pain.” 😩
You used to say “I’m good, thanks!” out of habit. Now, it’s “still hurts” before you’ve even made coffee.
2- “Let me check my schedule and get back to you.” 📅
You can’t even commit to anything without scrolling through your calendar to see what’s booked for PT, MRI, ortho, neuro, and your “monthly Zoom meeting with the attorney.”
3- “Can you grab that for me?” 🙃
If it’s on the floor, above your head, or requires bending, forget it; this is now a team sport.
4- “I can’t, I have PT.” 🧑🏽⚕️
“I have physical therapy” is the new “Sorry, I’m deep conditioning my hair that day.”
5- “Did you get my records yet?” 🗂️
This is a phrase you’ll repeatedly say to your attorney, your doctor’s office, your case manager, and your pharmacy.
6- “That’s not how it happened.” 🧐
You’ve become a historian, correcting every friend, relative, or insurance adjuster who tries to “remember” your accident for you.
7- “But my attorney said…” ⚖️
You’re afraid to even blink without your attorney’s approval. If you’re not quoting him at least once a day, are you even injured?
Pro Tip:
If your phone doesn’t autofill the words “ortho,” “attorney” or “pain scale,” you haven’t reached full PI client status yet.
